Metro Rail Chief denies media reports

KOCHI: Brushing aside the media reports that Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) authorities had written a letter to the Delhi Metro Rail Limited (DMRC) that they would implement the Kochi Metro Rail project on their own, KMRL managing director Tom Jose said that he was unaware of the incident.

“I am out of station and have not seen reports in this regard. I will check the reports once I reach Kochi and will see whether any official communications are sent from the KMRL office,” said Tom Jose.

Earlier, there were media reports that E Sreedharan, who is about to retire from the DMRC, said in New Delhi that he was not interested in associating with the Kochi Metro Rail project if DMRC was not involved in the implementation of the project.

Sreedharan, according to the report, also said that the KMRL had written a letter to the DMRC stating that they could implement the project on their own without the support of the DMRC.

The reports are published at a time when the crucial Planning and Investment Board (PIB) is scheduled to meet in January for giving  to the Kochi project.
